Pauls Community Church at 23rd and Allison, depending on the number of affirmitive

- BRING A BOX LUNCH DECORATED IN A VICTORIAN THEME. DRINK AND DESSERT WILL BE
FURNISHED BY THE HOSTESSES. A PRIZE WILL BE AWARDED THE PERSON BRINGING THE BOX
JUDGED "BEST DECORATED" OR PRETTIEST. (Note: We will be trading lunches before
we eat - so pack one good enough for a friend!) Please

The
Shady Ladies’ “Parlour House” stage presentation was researched and written
by founder Joan Hemm who studied the lives of ladies of the evening of the Victorian
west for over ten years. Members of The Shady Ladies are dressed in authentically
styled Victorian underwear to present the 30-minute program, which includes information
on the limited options for women in the westward movement. Prostitution as one
of those options is discussed in detail including the operation of a “house,”
Victorian birth control methods, and hazards of the profession. Due to the subject
matter, the program is intended for adults, although it can be instructional and
informative for teenagers as well. |
